My concern is that dental xrays are overused in this developed country. I do not have dental insurance as many of us previously middle class do not. When I needed dental care, it was usually because of pain, as I suspect most of us mothers whose lack of natural calcium arrived at the same point. Dentists in the 70's and 80's and even 90's usually had purchased their practice from a retiring dentist and used the old xray equipment; many of which were emitters or high levels of radiation.
As for myself, when I needed to have dental care due to pain, the first step was an xray, and only then the care would be provided. Next year, same thing, and another xray, especially if a different dentist. Sometimes I could not pay for the recommended procedures AFTER the xrays so the entire visit was wasted except for my additional xray exposure. Thus I accumulated almost a dozen xrays that exposed parts of my brain to radiation. Now, I have an almost untreatable insomnia. Coincidence? I don't think so.
Consider that the most common complaint among the baby boomers is insomnia. Lack of ability to sleep. And it is treated as if it were not the deadly condition it really is. Lack of sleep kills.
