Only way to eradicate this evil is to provide education to all the girls and also to provide employment opportunities to them. Without addressing these social evils , we cannot boast or boost ourselves as a developing nation.

sad but the truth of survival is more bizarre than we can think of. This must be only a tip of many icebergs of poverty related realities in all countries including the so called WEST. Anyways the solution lies in a determined and well executed efforts by the govt, civil societies and NGOs and of course by contributions by all citizens who are moved by this bitter fact of our so called prospering country. May we help ourselves....

Do you really believe this bleeding heart crap? This community make 60 times the average blue collar salary in India. The girls are trained in sex and are fully aware of what they're getting into; in fact they look forward to it because it makes them financially and politically powerful within their community. Girls that refuse to take part in prostitution are held in low regard within the bedia, whereas the working girls call the shots. That doesn't make it right, in fact it's an awful situation; the girls are addicted to the money, status, and praise within their community, but no one is paying too much attention to severe health risks these women take [AIDS and STDs]. The community does not want to give up the money and have trapped themselves into an evolutionary and social dead end. However, unlike the ridiculous sensationalist article quote in this blog, the bedia are not being forced into this line of work and victimized by others, but rather, are victimizing themselves buy sticking to this gross practice.
