Protein isn't the only acidic food in the diet and it is a necessity. GRAINS! Grains are the biggest problem food people eat and here, they are the base of our Food Pyramid. If people would eat a diet based on meat, fruits, and vegetables, everything would be just fine. Instead, the typical diet is meat (acidic, but necessary), grains (acidic and unnecessary) and dairy (acidic and unnecessary). Fruits and vegetables are relegated to a second-place role in the diet.

Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch, and no sugar.
