I see quite a controversy in this. While US citizen [who enable big pharma to exist] have to pay $94,500 for Harvoni, everybody in India can buy a generic version (before the original patent even expired) for, what, $1500? That's a big difference, especially when it comes to a life saving medicine. I don't see why US don't just buy Harvoni from India or use buyers club like for HIV in 70 that will offer you the drugs at a highly reduced cost.
I think we will start seeing Hepatitis C buyers clubs that will genuinely try to help people in need. This should be about profits or market shares; it is about saving lives.
