Bare foot running is already widely accepted as less efficient. it is more effort on your muscles to run a mile bare foot than in shoes.
However that is not the purpose of running bare foot. The propose is to take the impact off your heels. Heel impact shod running is the cause of knee and back problems in runners.
so yes you can run faster in shoes but your running career will be much shorter.
