Mrs. Prem Gupta, co-owner of a Fancy Light retail store in Faridabad (India) had been suffering from Arthritis for the last 15 years. Being an Arthritis patient, she continually suffered from knee pain. Sometimes her pain was so severe that she was unable to walk a few steps. She was continuously taking strong pain killers which were only adding to her health problems. She had been to many doctors and quacks and tried a lot of alternative medication for Arthritis only to get temporary relief for a few weeks now and then. Apart from pain, Mrs. Gupta’s self esteem was also badly hurt. Arthritis had affected the shape of her legs. Due to the pain and her walk, arthritis had shattered her social and public life. Mrs Gupta meet Dr. Ashok Goel through common family friends. Dr. Goel examined her and found that she had severe Arthritis. After considering all the factors, Dr. Goel suggested that anything other than a Total Knee Replacement for both knees was only a temporary solution. Dr. Goel counselled her. Mrs. Gupta’s anxiety about the surgery/ operation was over and she was mentally prepared for the operation. Dr. Ashok Goel performed a Total Knee Replacement surgery on both her knees in the same sitting in early June 2009. The surgical operation lasted for few hours. After the operation she was advised to take medicines and rest for a few days. Now, three months since her surgery Mrs. Prem Gupta is leading a happy and normal life. She walks normally without any pain. She is no more shy going to social gatherings. She is also looking after her business very effectively. Mrs. Gupta and her family are very thankful to Dr. Ashok Goel for bringing her back to normal life.
