Sounds like we are both fortunate to have good Docs.I had this procedure today. After reading postings online I had gotten very worked up about it. Couldn’t sleep last night so took .25 xanax. Today I took my usual meloxicam and Tramadol[have them for chronic back issues]about an hour beforehand… then .5 xanax 1/2hr before. I was still worried but I have been fortunate enough to find a great gyn (had actually only seen him once before this, but liked him right away). It was very much like a pap until they had to go through the cervix to get to the uterus. He numbed me inside and I barely felt that. He constantly asked if he should continue since I had been so scared. He said if I could not continue we could go next door to the hospital and use sedation. I said I was ok.I felt three small pinches as the machine sucked out the cells, and then it was over….no major cramping (more of an ache), no sharp pain. I felt very relieved and fortunate!

I am 66 years of age and had this procedure done yesterday, Although my womb is hardening [ part of the ageing process ] I cant really say I felt any pain at all, a few period like pains today but that is all.

Had mine 3days ago and still cramping. I have lower back pain as well and think its from tensing during the procedure..the doc had to go in three times! The nurse told me to expect bleeding and cramping, so I've decided to give it a week.

You have m lmao... Im scheduled for mine next week. I am so glad i am reading all of your posts. My gyno said he will stop if i have strong pain and will do a d and c at the hospital under anesticia instead. Should i just cancel the biopsy and go for the d and c???? What to do??

I had one done on Monday afternoon, the pain was unbearable at times, my dr was very understanding and kept checking on my pain. I've given birth vaginally 2 times, have had my share of miscarriages, D and Cs, paps, ets, but this by far was the worst pain ever felt1 I took 600mg of ifuprofen 1 hr before the procedure and it did nothing. I had to take presecribed pain control because the cramping continues. I'm not bleeding but the cramps are just constant and strong. I'm the biggest baby when it comes to pain but my fiance was there so I was trying not to cry so he wouldn't freak out but it came to a point that i couldn't anymore. Poor thing didn't know what to do...he just kept wiping my tears and holding my hand.

I am going in to see the ob/gyn after some post-menopausal bleeding, minor. Just a little over a year ago - I had to have surgery to remove some fibroids, get a D and C, and the test came back negative. This doctor - who has since left the practice I will be going to tomorrow, made extra efforts to keep me over-night at the hospital. After I was in terrible pain, but was able to get powerful paid meds injected for the pain and cramping.Year later went in with - complaint of mild bleeding; the nurse practitioner sent an assistant in with the equipment to do a uterine biopsy. I said "what's this?" The assistant said oh, its for your uterine biopsy. My reply was "I don't think so, no one asked my permission and I have a very low threshold of pain, plus fibromyagia - NO ONE is going to do any invasive procedure on me without a short-acting general anesthesia." I was furious.It wasn't even discussed.I'm a medical advocate, and I'll be well prepared tomorrow with a researched plan of action

Agree ! I can't even let my husband and near me I'm so traumatized.
