Coma comes from a Greek word meaning deep sleep – a person in a coma is in a profound state of unconsciousness from which they cannot be awakened. This happens usually as a result of injury, disease, or poison.

I have a friend who was in a bad accident. thrown from a motorcycle and then hit again. His cat scan shows brain o.k. he has multilple injuries and responds to pain stimuli and once morphine wheres off shows pain but after one week still will not wake up. Is there hope and what is going on we want him back! NOW..

My mother's coma score is 4 in the Glasgow system... Is there any chance she could wake up?? All doctors say no...

make your mother a tape, of people she knows and loves talking on it. play it every day. also read, talk to her as if she's responding. She's deep, deep in her head right now, and it's so hard to respond, but she's trying. get her activated again, by conversation she'll want to respond to.

My dad is a dialysis patient he's 70 yaers old. HE went for heart surgery and after 3 days he hasn't waken up. All his vitals are fine and the surgery was a success exept for the obvious. Doctors say be patient. Will he wake up? No brain damage was detected.
