AIDS/HIV - Prevention And Transmission

While prevention efforts have managed to reduce the number of new HIV infections, each year, an estimated 56,300 Americans are newly infected with HIV. Efforts are underway by many agencies, primarily the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), to fund prevention programs to educate people at highest risk, as well as the general public, about HIV/AIDS and preventing or reducing their risk. HIV is spread by sexual contact with an infected person, by sharing needles and/or syringes (primarily for drug injection) with someone who is infected, or, less commonly (and now very rarely in countries where blood is screened for HIV antibodies), through transfusions of infected blood or blood clotting factors. Babies born to HIV-infected women may become infected before or during birth or through breast-feeding after birth.

AIDS/HIV Prevention & Transmission

HIV virus is transmitted by exchange of body fluids from infected person to the uninfected. Sexual activities can transmit the virus when direct contact occurs between the HIV infected persons body fluid and mucous membranes of another. This spread can be prevented by avoiding these behaviors or by use of preventive condoms. Use of disposable syringes can avoid transmission of the virus by needle. Routine testing for HIV can prevent transmission through blood transfusions.

Dear Sir,
Is there a possibility of HIV transmission by putting fingers inside the vagina? Is there any possibility of HIV transmission by licking the side part of the penis when it is fully covered by outside membrane in afully erect position?

There is no danger caused by poking your fingers into the vagina and getting AIDS. Similarly licking etc should also be ok. However do be careful, as one never knows how far one has gone in the heat of the moment and at times all the precautions may be forgotten.

As I told in my previous post, I think I have been affected with HIV just before one week. Could you tell me when I should have a HIV test done?

Condoms are an important part of HIV prevention.& Certain circumstances and conditions increase the risk of HIV infection and transmission.
