Mitral Valve Regurgitation and Mitral Valve Replacement

Mitral valve regurgitation happens when the mitral valve, which controls blood flow between the left atrium and the left ventricle within the heart, does not close properly. This allows blood to flow back within the heart, and the heart is not able to pump blood to the body as efficiently. The defect is corrected with an open heart surgery to replace the damaged mitral valve with a tissue or mechanical valve.

Join our online group on mitral valve regurgitation and mitral valve replacement to ask your questions to experts, share your experiences, and learn more.

Mitral Valve Stenosis And Mitral Valve Replacement

Mitral valve stenosis happens when the mitral valve – which regulates blood flow between the upper and lower chambers in the left side of the heart – is narrowed. Mitral valve stenosis can lead eventually to heart failure or heart infections or stroke. Mitral valve replacement, an open heart surgery, is performed when the mitral valve is too damaged to be repaired.

Join our online support group for mitral valve stenosis and replacement to meet others who have undergone the procedure and talk to doctors who can help.

Mouth Ulcers
