Menopause, or the permanent end of a woman’s menstrual periods and her ability to have a baby, is a natural stage of the life cycle for women. But menopause often goes with unpleasant physical symptoms (like hot flushes) and feelings of sadness and loss, and women need support to go through it.

Join our online support group for women going through menopause to talk with other women and doctors and learn more about this stage of your life.

Metabolic Syndrome

The metabolic syndrome is a group of symptoms that put you at increased risk for heart disease and diabetes: fat deposits around the waist, high blood pressure, insulin resistance or high blood sugar, high triglycerides and LDL or ‘bad’ cholesterol in the blood, low HDL or ‘good’ cholesterol in the blood.

Mitral Valve Regurgitation and Mitral Valve Replacement

Mitral valve regurgitation happens when the mitral valve, which controls blood flow between the left atrium and the left ventricle within the heart, does not close properly. This allows blood to flow back within the heart, and the heart is not able to pump blood to the body as efficiently. The defect is corrected with an open heart surgery to replace the damaged mitral valve with a tissue or mechanical valve.

Join our online group on mitral valve regurgitation and mitral valve replacement to ask your questions to experts, share your experiences, and learn more.

Mitral Valve Stenosis And Mitral Valve Replacement

Mitral valve stenosis happens when the mitral valve – which regulates blood flow between the upper and lower chambers in the left side of the heart – is narrowed. Mitral valve stenosis can lead eventually to heart failure or heart infections or stroke. Mitral valve replacement, an open heart surgery, is performed when the mitral valve is too damaged to be repaired.

Join our online support group for mitral valve stenosis and replacement to meet others who have undergone the procedure and talk to doctors who can help.

Mosquito Diseases

Mosquitoes have been called the deadliest known disease carriers . Because they suck blood, they carry infections between people and also between species. They spread malaria, filariasis, dengue fever, chikungunya, and yellow fever.

Join the online group on mosquito diseases to meet others – professionals and lay people – who want to fight this menace.

Mouth Ulcers

Mouth ulcers are not only very painful, but (if you don’t know) are also easily transmitted between persons. Caused by a virus called the Herpes simplex, or HSV, mouth ulcers are the second most common viral infection known to man.

For more tidbits on handling mouth ulcers, sign up on our support group today.

Mud Baths

Certain kinds of mud (like mud from the Dead Sea or in areas where there are hot springs with volcanic ash) are supposed to be medicinal. Many people have ‘mud baths’ with these muds by bathing in the place where the mud is found, followed usually by a bath in mineral water.

Join our online group on mud baths to talk with others interested in them and learn more.

Multifactorial Birth Defects

In some cases, more than one factor may be responsible for causing birth defects. These are termed multifactorial. It’s often difficult to pinpoint the contributing factors because of its associated complexity.

To learn more on multifactorial birth defects and to connect with others, sign up for Medindia’s support group on the subject.
